Originating mainly from China and other surrounding Asian countries, bamboo flooring commonly derives from the Moso plant. Bamboo flooring is very highly processed before reaching the stage of installation – so the final product is of a lot higher-quality than the original piece of grass found in the forest. The bamboo shoot is stripped of its skin, before being boiled in acidic liquid and removed of sugar or starch. 

Once dried, the bamboo material is planed and laminated in chemicals that ensure the product is safe, hygienic and long-lasting. When finished, bamboo flooring usually emulates the same colour and texture of beech wood.

 

Bamboo flooring has many of the same physical characteristics of the hardwoods we have to offer at Forest Hills Flooring. The material is very attractive, extremely strong and resistant to moisture.
