*        The cork bark is left to dry in piles outdoors for several months before it is taken to be processed.

*        Pure cork bark is used immediately for products such as wine and food bottle corks.

*        The rest of the bark is heated and then ground into a paste.  It is combined with industrial resins and transformed into solid planks, sheets or tiles using intense pressure.

*        Some cork planks are combined with high density fibreboard (HDF) for greater strength.

*        Pure bark can be used to create a natural veneer over the manufactured planks and tiles.  This creates a lovely natural finish.
